Discover Qeshm, Iran’s largest island, stretching along the shimmering waters of the Persian Gulf. Located just south of the Hormozgan coast, this island paradise lies at sea level with a warm, tropical climate and a deeply rooted maritime culture.
Qeshm’s weather is warm and humid for most of the year, with mild winters and extremely hot summers. The island’s natural diversity—from lush mangrove forests to striking desert landscapes—makes it a truly unique year-round destination.
Qeshm is part of the UNESCO Qeshm Geopark, boasting a remarkable range of geological and ecological wonders. Highlights include the surreal Stars Valley, the mystical Hara Mangrove Forests, the Salt Cave of Namakdan (the longest salt cave in the world), and traditional villages like Laft with centuries-old windcatchers and dhow-building heritage.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, adventurer, or culture lover, Qeshm offers an immersive experience where local life, marine biodiversity, and raw nature meet.
Here are your intercity means of transportation:
By Road & Sea: From Bandar Abbas, travelers can take ferries or speedboats to Qeshm. Vehicle ferries also allow for road travel directly onto the island.
By Flight: Qeshm International Airport (GSM), located in the western part of the island, offers daily domestic flights from Tehran, Shiraz, and other cities, and occasional international routes.
Once on the island, taxis and local transport (such as minivans or rental cars) are the main options. Ride-hailing apps are limited but available in some areas.
Qeshm has a hot and humid desert climate. Summers (June to early September) are intensely hot and best avoided, while the rest of the year is ideal for travel.
High-season: Winter and early spring (November to early April) when temperatures are mild and the air is pleasant. This is the best time for outdoor exploration, island hopping, and enjoying the mangrove ecosystems.
Low-season: Summer (late May to early September), due to high temperatures and humidity levels, especially during midday hours.
✓ Norooz holidays (around March 15th to April 2nd) are considered a peak-season in Qeshm, attracting a large number of domestic tourists to the island.
