The Silence Tower, or Dakhmeh, located on the outskirts of Yazd, is a poignant reminder of ancient Zoroastrian burial practices. Constructed on top of barren hills, these circular stone structures date back to the 18th century and were used by Zoroastrians to perform sky burials, a sacred ritual to avoid contaminating the elements of earth, fire, and water.

The towers are built with simplicity and purpose, featuring high walls that encircle a central platform where the deceased were laid out.
